Replacement mail servers HTG SMTP-MTA

Customs is going to replace the mail servers of the MTA interface. For most declarants using the MTA interface, this replacement will go unnoticed. For a small group of declarants, however, this replacement will have consequences; they will have to make some changes in the configuration of their own MTA (mail server).

The name of the HTG-MTA mail servers used is visible during connection establishment. Some declarants have included a check in their own MTA for the name of Customs' mail server. These declarants will need to change their configuration to work with Customs' new mail servers.

Current MTA mail servers report their physical system name while making the connection. These are:

Production:

poemmtal11. poort.belastingdienst.nl

poemmtal12.poort.belastingdienst.nl

poemmtal13.poort.belastingdienst.nl

poemmtal14.poort.belastingdienst.nl

Preproduction (connection to the Companies Test Environment BTO):

If declarants have included these system names in their own MTA configuration (as an additional security measure), they should add the name that the new mail servers will use to the configuration in a timely manner. The new MTA mail servers will use the name:

Production:

smtp.htpoort.nl

Preproduction:

smtp.preprod.htpoort.nl

All new mail servers will therefore begin using the same name visible to the declarants (the names in production and pre-production obviously differ). This name is an alias, so that a subsequent replacement of mail servers will no longer have any impact on the configuration of the declarants' mail servers.

The mail server replacement is scheduled for:

Pre-production: 20 February 2024

Production: 9 April 2024

The modification of the configuration of the own mail server must be carried out before that time.
